FDMS: A Financial Data Management System for NOAA Research

The OAR Financial Data Management System (FDMS) has been developed to meet the needs of the laboratories and program offices in NOAA Research. Implemented in Microsoft Access, the system is hosted on a server located at PMEL in Seattle, and used by the administrative staff in the NOAA Research laboratories and program offices through CITRIX Metaframe. Employees input budget and administrative information using MS Access forms and queries and web forms. The FDMS system is interfaced with the NOAA FIMA and CAMS systems by means of a series of automated downloads. Users can view status of all current data while on-line. Reports can be viewed by the Operating Unit in realtime. Consolidated reports will be available to NOAA Research headquarters management staff on a regular basis through secured web pages using XML, XLS and SQL Server.
