Section 508 requires that when Federal agencies develop, procure, maintain or use electronic and information technology (EIT) , they take into account the needs of end users who are people with disabilities. Doing so will ensure the ability of Federal employees and members of the public with disabilities to have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to that provided to others. Accessibility is critical in this era of reliance on information technology.

Our exhibit will include:

• demonstrations of NOAA employees using assistive technology to access NOAA programs,

• vendors showing products that comply with Section 508 standards

• informative handouts on the Section 508 requirements

• information on the Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP), a program for providing assistive technology to federal employees
